TTT~and a GIVEAWAY!!

Hello everyone!  My name is Kelli, and I blog over @ Seriously..I think it needs stitches.  Today I am honored to be guest posting for the first time ever and guest hosting the Thursday Think Tank for Rebecca Lynne, while she is out of town attending to something very important.

So I hope some of you will link up and share what's been on your mind this week, or what you've been up to. Quilty, crafty or otherwise.  Anything goes in the Think Tank.

What's been on my mind today is this pillowcase that I made HAD to make.  A few weeks ago, I let my son pick out a yard of fabric for a pillow case that I would make him.  He was so excited.  Then he wanted to pick out the border for it.  The fabric was on sale, I had a weak moment, and I let him choose, on his own.  I'm all for letting kids have their own creative license and all that.. but I REALLY REALLY didn't like the two fabrics he chose to put together.  But he had his heart set on them.  The other day he asked me where his fabrics were and described them in detail. I figured it was time to face the fabrics.

So today, I sat down and sewed it up.  At least pillow cases make for a speedy project.  Something about the fabric colors and little bones.. UGH.  I love dogs and so does my son, but these two fabrics just seem to clash! I feel bad for hating it so, when my son is so in love with it, but it actually makes me cringe. At what point do you say to a 5 yr old.. "that's not such a good combo", or "sleeping on that might make you dizzy and throw up"?  I didn't have the heart to, so I just sewed it up.
He wanted his finger in the picture.

I don't know.. something about the color combos.  ACK!  I don't know whether I'm going to have a migrain or chest pain looking at it.  But you know what?  He loves it.  LOVES.  And I love that he loves it.  Because I love him. I guess that's what it all boils down to, right?

He insisted on putting it on his pillow immediately. And I have to admit, it's much cuter with his head on it.  Although I might have to read bedtime stories with my eyes closed sometimes.  Which may be difficult. ;) Maybe it will grow on me.

In the meantime, let's get to the giveaway!  Rebecca and I have been planning a tandem giveaway in honor of our Drama Free 2012 pact that we made at the start of the year.

SO, on each of our blogs today, you can enter to win a Little Apples layer cake by Aneela Hoey.

Well its not really funny but it made me snigger... On my lap, I carefully hand quilted my wallhanging TO my shorts on Sunday and did about 6 inches before I noticed.....(and I'd had a funny feeling that I needed to be careful so it wouldnt happen, and it DID.)

and to make Rebecca smile, picture me walking round the supermarket. Halfway round I look down because I think I've stepped on something - it's yesterday's knickers hanging from the bottom of my trouser leg!!!!

Something to possibly make you laugh, Rebecca... Not so long ago, my daughter was waiting in the car for me, while I finished my fabric shopping. Shopping done, I hopped into the front seat of the car, BUT, it was the wrong car, with a horrified lady and her kids looking at me. Trying to find the right car, there was my daughter laughing in the next car.... a senior's moment.

I love Rebecca's blog because I think she's very talented, incredibly creative and a wonderful writer. She's always honest, has amazing taste and a beautiful family.
I'm incredibly grateful for her friendship, even when there's drama in her life she takes the time to ask how I'm doing. She's been so sweet and encouraging to me!
I'm plotting a way to visit her but I'll need to win the lottery first!!

Ooo to think I almost missed this.
Something funny that happened today, that wasn't to me.
Was at work. Some of the ladies created a joke donations box for one of the other workers, they put his picture on it and a message-sadly I didn't see what it said-then dropped money into it.
He saw it and started ripping away at the box, inside was 10 pennies and a paperclip.

I would also like to mention I follow this blog.

Plus if anyone is interested I'm holding a swap on my blog. If you're interested feel free to check it out =D

For a funny - I was driving down a major highway last week, behind a semi, and suddenly noticed a wheel rolling along beside me on the side of the road. It was so bizarre! The semi had lost it. So I pulled him over. He was very appreciative.

I was doing water aerobics this morning, we were doing kicks, legs out of the water. I got a charley horse and had to stick my leg straight up to try to pull the CH out. Then I got the giggles as I thought of what my husband might have thought last night when I got a charley horse in my sleep. I couldn't wake up enough to get out of bed and stand on my leg but I do remember sticking my leg straight up until I got the CH pulled out. I'm sure it looked interesting.

Well, this didn't happen to *me*, but it always makes me laugh when I think about it-- so I'll bet it will cheer Rebecca smile too! My husband's aunt was *always* doing something kooky-- should write a book about her exploits! :-) When she was in her 50's, she and her older sister had gone on a shopping adventure together.. They had taken a lunch break at a fast food joint-- and were sitting in the booth resting while eating their lunch. The older sister noticed that the younger one kept glancing at the wall beside the table-- and frowning.. Finallly, she asked her what was wrong... The younger aunt leaned over and whispered, "That old woman keeps staring at us! Every time I look at her, she's just staring!" Yep- you guessed it-- the wall that their table was by was a mirrored wall-- and she was staring at herself! LOL :-)

Not so funny backgrounder to silly story ... had chemo and radiation to treat breast cancer - eyebrows never really grew back so I have to draw them on.

I presented at a little seminar yesterday. It wasn't until I got home late in the afternoon that I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror where I immediately noticed that I had only drawn on ONE eyebrow that morning. Considering I don't have much hair grown back yet, my forehead is pretty much "out there" and only one brow is a pretty glaring omission. Nobody commented though I'll bet there were lots of people who couldn't focus on a word I was saying because they were distracted by my single eyebrow. AWK!!!

Well, my little granddaughter is running from the LR to me in the kitchen and squealing and chattering about something. I follow who into the LR a time or two and see nothing amiss! Finally she points to the fireplace and there is a young bluebird caught behind the glass doors! Poor little bird! My granddaughter really echoed a squeal when I let her touch the bird before releasing it into the air!

My g-baby girl is visiting and we're just loving having her here. The other day she was fussing and crying because her mom was trying to leave to visit her brother-in-law. Gramps walked in and the tears turned off immediately as she lifted her arms and said "bubbles??" (a game on his I-pad). I cracked up because she JUST turned 2 and already knows how to play his I-pad. Hop this brings a smile to you.

Something funny - I dragged my poor hubby to a Better Homes and Gardens expo on the weekend. After getting stuck in road works and taking well over an hour to drive there we walked round and round the building trying to find the right door. Couldn't find it anywhere! Then I checked the tickets - oops it is next weekend!! Luckily we both saw the funny side of it :)

I forgot to say that I have let my kids choose their own fabrics and then cringed later. They love their choices so much and I never have the heart to tell them how I feel. As long as they are happy that is all that matters.

My youngest (now 12) has always loved to play with boxes. I thought he had grown out of it until the other day. I received a fabric order and then I took the box and broke it down. I asked my son to take the box out to the recyclables but he was taking too long to come back inside so I went to look for him. He was standing out front with the box around his upper body like those people in a barrel that go over Niagara Falls. lol I guess he hasn't outgrown playing in boxes.
