Zig Zag Folksy Flannel Quilt Top

Untitled
I started working on these Anna Maria Horner Folksy Flannel zig zag flannel quilts last summer!  Agh!
Untitled
I can't believe how quickly this top came together on my Juki.  Kind of makes me feel silly for not working on this earlier.  I am just going to add a flannel backing and maybe do a foldover binding...really simple which will be perfect for the girls!

I've been feeling very poorly all week so I haven't done much else.  But, it makes me happy to see this top put together and looking so comfy even through photos!

Finish-A-Long 2013 Q1

she can quilt

Alright.  I'm doing it.  Clearly I need to...I'm joining the FAL being hosted this year by one of my favorite virtual people ever, Leanne from She Can Quilt.
[I must also give kudos to Lucy and Helen whose posts about the FAL furthered my resolve to join...]

When I lamented that taking a pic of my projects to be completed was my first barrier in this process Leanne was kind enough to email me and say just take a picture with your phone!  Damn, that woman knows how to get me going.  So, haha, I did.

Now I usually bite off more than I can chew.  However, I am going to make a goal that I think I can very reasonably reach in the hopes that it will only serve to help me going for Q2!  Good strategy right?

To Be Finished #1: ZigZag Quilt

Yeah yeah, please ignore all the stuff around the zig zag.

In my defense when I unpacked my sewing stuff after the move this was the first UFO I put up after hanging my design wall.  So...clearly my subconscious is screaming "get a move on chica!"  After all, this flannel quilt won't be all that in the summer months...

To Be Finished #2: Rainbow Quilt

Untitled

I have the backing...I have the binding...I have the batting.

Then we moved.

Miss E's birthday is this month so I'd really like to get this one done first.  I am thinking straight lined quilting within the rainbow square and perhaps diagonal quilting on the white?  As usual I am probably taking on too much...I'll start with the straight lines and go from there!!!

Alright.  Wish me luck.  Send me lots of "atta boys"!!!  I'll get my girls on it too...  Oh and go visit the 2013 FAL Link Up - lots of amazing stuff happening!

Under the Wire Wednesday

Untitled
I will be returning to work very soon...sigh...  Don't misunderstand, I love my job, I love getting up in the morning and having a life, putting on clothes and talking about adult things, but I will miss squishing my three girls whenever I want to.  Especially leaving Miss O so young.  It will be very very very tough.  But, I am not working the ridiculous hours I once did in NYC so I am grateful for that...at least I will see my girls every night, every morning, and every weekend which is more than some people can say...  Sad state the world has gotten itself into isn't it?

Anyway - we could go on forever on that topic.

My point for bringing this up is that I am now under a crunch to focus on finishing some things up!  I will be going on holiday next week and have set aside my hand binding to focus on machine driven projects.  Hopefully I will get some more sewing done next week with my Mother in Law but there are no promises as it will be my only week of summer vacation!

Here is what I am working on...

Miss O's Zig Zag
- All of the squares are cut
- All have been sewn together
- And I even squared off the corners  <-- What?  That is so not MRL but I am being extra good this time!
