Orange Cabinets. Seriously.

I have a confession to make...

I MISS MY SEWING MACHINE SOOO MUCH!

However, I've been busy in a totally different way.

Like Stripping Wallpaper in my spare time...while holding a baby.

To be perfectly honest I can't take credit for most of the work going on in our new house.  My amazing in-laws are here doing the bulk of the work while the Mr. and I are at work.  I have quite a few pictures of them scraping glue off of the wood floors, peeling wallpaper, replacing a bannister, general cleaning, and minor plumbing repairs.  However - I will refrain from sharing those photos of them in their work finery with the public!

Yes.  The cabinets are Orange.  Orange Doors and Taupe foundation.  Like a cantaloupe!

My girls have been pretty amazing doing their own version of "work" while we have been tearing the house apart around them.

The house To Do List has been generating a lot of guilt.  What guilt?  Financial guilt.  As I explained to my mother the other day, I haven't even SPENT money on any of my ideas and yet just the thought that I might have to spend money to get the house close to where I want it to be has me in a downward spiral of guilt.

Luckily, I am taking it a little at a time.  I am listing out my projects and prioritizing carefully.  Right now the most important thing is to get the house clean and ready enough for my children.  I'll worry about the aesthetic issues (like orange cabinets) later.

It looks like it will be a fun long term project, the house has some lovely features. And you can just embrace the orange for now, put out some pyrex, it will look like you did it on purpose - retro 70's look.

It's going to be a lovely home, no matter whether it's 'done' or not...I get a warm feeling from the photos! (But I agree, the orange doors are, um, interesting!) I love your Sheila's Maid - it would look great stood against the wall with quilts folded on it ;o)
Good luck with all the 'moving in' jobs xx
P.S. It looks like you've got a lovely front garden for the girls to play in!

I think all you are trying to get done is amazing! One step at a time is the beat way.
Would you believe, the house we live in now had the entry way, living room, one bedroom, kitchen and long hall--ALL in that same ORANGE? I called it "Home Depot Orange"! That's not to mention the deep purple and yellow bedroom (I think they were LA Lakers fans), 2 rooms were painted bright sky blue, and the last 2 br had burgundy and yellow contrasted walls. Needless to say, we started on the painting first...good luck!

You are so cute stripping that wall paper!! You look so happy. New starts are always fun, minus all of the work, of course. ;) Your inlaws sound like the BEST! I'm visiting the inlaws right now, or as I call their house, the magical land of carbs. ;) Back to calorie counting as soon as I get home!! Have fun with your babies and your new house.. sooo happy for you!! xo

I am loving that kitchen. Okay, not the colours, but the space. Looks like when you have it the way you want it that it will be the prefect family area!
