Fabriholics Anonymous March Check-in

FabAnon
Whew!  Just getting this in right under the wire!  March is practically over...oh well that happens when busy gets busier...at least I can say that my time has been spent sewing...

So how has it been for you ladies and gents?  I, for one, was able to buy fabric this month in order to help a swap member get her fabric picks for the Low Volume Swap.  To be honest with you it made me feel a bit dirty!!!  It felt quite decadent to be perusing fabric, putting it in the shopping cart, changing my mind, and then eventually finalizing my shopping card and pressing Buy Now.  Agh!  What a thrill...  I still haven't spent my gift card yet and am debating how much longer I will be able to hold out.

Specifically, I am lusting over these right here...

I pretty much want this whole line...

What about you all?  How are you coping?  If you have any tips for your fellow fasters do share.  I am compiling a list of tips and would love to hear your ideas!

You know the drill, leave a link and visit two links above you.  Make sure to leave a comment when you visit!

My best advice is to do the opposite of whatever I do because I've failed pretty miserably the last two months. Sigh.

Anyway, deleting emails about sales without reading them, avoiding any fabric shop newsletters in general. And if I'm shopping in a LQS, I think I'm going to have start taking about how much cash I'll need (ie. if I'm buying a spool of thread, I probably don't need a credit card, maybe a $10 bill would be a better thought...) rather than having the full force of my bank account/credit available to me :D

I'm doing b e t t e r than I was three months ago when I would buy just anything on sale whether I liked it or not. I am working hard on getting projects completed or at least to the quilt top stage. I struggled at first not buying fabric for teh sake of it, got through it and now I am just purchasing for what I need to get a quilt or project done (except for the piece of mice fabric I bought - THAT was not needed). Ooops - I'm only human!

I am doing well on my fast. I was in Atlanta over the weekend. It was the Atlanta shop. Only went to one shop. Didn't buy a thing.
Working on a memory quilt for work. Hope to put the binding on this weekend.

I failed- I bought black Kona to finish a quilt top which was the start- last weekend I bought 3 yards of Bike Path at £3 a yard to start making a dress, and also some charm squares which were cut up for inside my postage stamp quilt and also swaps with others and three FQs that I stashed, one because it was pretty and two because they were fish for my goldfish quilt which will be the next project I start. Oops.

Wow! I love that Leah Duncan Meadow. Thanks for adding to my wishlist - LOL! I did not purchase any fabric this month, but I am toying with trying a flannel for the backing of my son's 100 Blocks Quilt. Maybe something with constructions vehicles or big trucks.....

I'm finding it much harder than I thought I would. But am buying much less that I would if I weren't on the "fast" :)

I didn't sign up for this but decided it was a good idea - and it has worked (so far!). I have been able to stay out of LQS's, deleted emails and once when I needed thread, went to a QS that has great thread selection but I don't care that much about their fabric. There is a shop hop coming up in 2 weeks - and that will be the hardest test - if I go, I'll buy. (Don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, of course!) (Kinda like the excuse of buying more since you already have the shipping cost that one blogger posted about before.) But I'm finding this extremely helpful!! Thanks!
