Work it Baby. Advice on Binding Please!

Untitled
Last weekend I worked furiously on this "It Doesn't Get More Modern Than Gray & White Chevron" quilt for my newest nephew.  I finished the top and was able to do a very very very basic echo of the zig zag to quilt it as well.  The back is Echo.

Forgive the un-ironed-ness.  I quilted it at my mother in-law's house with her brand new Juki TL 2010Q (review soon) and then drove 8 hours home with it stuffed in the back seat!  Ha!

ADVICE!  Thinking of doing Kona Charcoal for the binding - thoughts???

But mostly, I am spending every free freaking moment CUTTING CUTTING CUTTING FABRIC for this...

And I'm also working on the x2 quilts for my cousins impending twins between cutting fabric for the swap.  You know, like a sanity break from all that pressing and cutting!  I don't have progress photos yet because it is a surprise...

Also looking for sponsors for a new challenge I thought up inspired by this post.  Hopefully more on that sooner than later!

What are you doing these days?

that would work. Have you thought of matching the echo orange (I LOVE that print BTW and never managed to get any - sigh)? I think it would make the front pop

Oh my goodness, you are a busy little bee! I think charcol would be great on this quilt - keep it simple next to the chevron and would make the backing pop!

Hmm - well I'm the last person to advise on binding as I usually grab the first fabric I have half a yard in! I like the idea of matching the orange but that may be because I'm not a huge grey fan. The quilt is bloomin' gorgeous BTW!!!!

I love the quilt and can't wait to read your review about the Juki! I like the idea of the charcoal binding - how about introducing a little bit of the backing in so that there's a little strip of yellow (mustard? Gold? Hard to tell on my screen!) along an edge or round a corner...

P.S. Did Miss E love her quilt?!

I like Archie's idea - something that brings the two sides together. Joel Dewberry's Aviary 2 Sparrows Cavern Black would be an example. (I happen to be working on something with the same color scheme.)Moira might want to know that the Echo fabric has been reissued - at least, I picked up some with white background and the goldy yellow design a month or so ago - because I always wanted some too!

My first thought when I saw the Echo print on the back was, use gray for the binding. I love Archie's idea of tossing a bit of yellow/mustard in there, too...a great modern touch!

I think the charcoal would be perfect for the binding. What a fab quilt!

I tried to comment yesterday but I think my phone ate it!
My initial thought when I saw the top the other day was how awesome it would look with with a bright pop color for binding! With this backing i think kona jade or something along those lines would look great with both sides.

Or if you are stuck on a neutral like charcoal, what about a strip of a solid that matches the back underneath it on the front, a la Jaybird Quilts binding with a flange tutorial?

...No matter what you go with its going to look great though. I'm still totally smitten with the simplicity and scale of this. What size are the blocks?
