Pattern Giveaway: Infinity Scarf

If you've been following MRL recently then you know I've gotten a bit hooked on these scarves.  I am just in love with the infinity scarf and, typical for me, I had to add a hood too...  It is so versatile and I've made mine so that I can also use it as a nursing cover when out and about with Miss O.  I had so much interest in the scarves that I thought I'd write up a pattern!

I've included three infinity scarf styles in the pattern - after all getting a 3 in 1 pattern is worth so much better than just 1 style don't you think?

The Skinny: a thinner summery infinity scarf created with 3 fat quarters
The Hood: a wider infinity scarf that can be used as a hood or a shawl
The Mama: the mama of them all, scarf, hood, shawl, and a nursing cover

Untitled
Yeah - I'm looking a bit dramatic here sporting the shawl.

In case you don't recognize her this is none other than Lucy from CharmAboutYou.com  This is Lucy modeling The Skinny.  Thanks so much to Lucy who test drove my pattern and sent me some amazing pictures to use...isn't she a stunning pregnant mama?

PATTERN GIVEAWAY

Three Ways to Enter - Simply Answer...

1. What three fabrics would you use to create an infinity scarf?
2. What do you consider when purchasing a pattern...cost/clarity/likelihood of multiple uses?
3. Follow me and let me know, not a requirement but mad kudos if you do.  ;)

Winner of Giveaway will be chosen October 7, 2012.  Good Luck!

The pattern is also available for sale. Visit my Etsy store Shop Rebecca Lynne here.  I am cool with people using the patterns to create scarves to sell, I only ask that you give credit to Shop Rebecca Lynne when you sell a scarf from my pattern.

The store is quite bare bones right now, however I plan on adding destash soon as I prepare for our impending move.  I've a pile of yummy scraps from my latest projects just waiting to be photographed and added to Shop Rebecca Lynne's inventory!

Congrats on the new Etsy shop and impending move. :) I've toyed with the idea of an Etsy shop for so long, but it seems so intimidating! Go you!! Lucy looks adorable, too!

Oh, that last comment didn't answer question #2, did it.. I'll say that style is what determines whether I buy a pattern.. multiple uses is good too. More for your money that way! And.. three fabrics.. I'm not sure. I think some fun wintery fabrics would be really cute to make one for winter. Corduroy, houndstooth, tweed.. Thanks for the giveaway! xoxo

I follow

I go for multiple use, clarity and cost in that order

I like scarves to be soft to touch so organic cotton, velvet etc. would be my fabric of choice.

Gill said...

I'd use voile for the thinner scarf and maybe cotton viscose and a light velvet for bigger ones!

Gill said...

When I buy I pattern I consider multiple use and cost(which are probably linked!) first

Susan said...

I have some Liberty fabrics which would be perfect..with a touch of Anna Maria Horner thrown in!

Susan said...

I love a pattern which is blatantly clear in its instructions!

Congratulations!! I am so lucky to be able to get Liberty in the big chain craft store nearby, and have been awaiting a little bit more spending money to buy some to make a scarf or two!!

Alyce @ Blossom Heart Quilts said...

I consider cost for budget and supporting other artists, compared to whether I know how to do it myself as I like the challenge of figuring things out. But infinity scarves... they need someone to explain it to me, lol!

I already follow you!

I have few voile fabrics in my stash that I think I will use it.

Love both you and Lucy modeling...I think I'd have to fall off the no-purchase wagon and buy some voiles to make one of those beauties!

Snoodles said...

I've been stalking, er following you for some time now!

Snoodles said...

The number one thing for me in a pattern is clarity....that can be text explanations or photos, either one. :)

I am a follower and when I buy a patteren it is usually because I like it. That is why my room is so full of patterens that I hope someday to make.

I'd use three voile fabrics from Connecting Threads. They are cherry blossoms and feathers I already happen to have in my stash.

I mostly buy a pattern or book if I like the look of the fabrics. Thats the truth. I will also buy patterns from bloggers I like and admire, even if I could make a lookalike myself. I like supporting their endeavors!

Lori said...

I think I would use fabrics from Pat Bravo's Indie line.

Lori said...

I love buying patterns that are easy to read and that I know I would use more than once.

Carla said...

I think I would use some fabrics from the Indie line . Thanks

Choosing just three fabrics is hard for me. So many cute fabrics out there ;) I'd probably choose one of the Anna Maria Horner Feather prints and then a few coordinating prints from my favorite local shop....Remnants Fiber Culture in Austin :)

I consider cost to an extent, but it's not the deciding factor when purchasing a pattern. I'll pay 15$ for a well drafted independent designer pattern on quality paper or in PDF format before I'll pay $1.00 for a Simplicity tissue pattern. I like patterns that I can use and customize time and again, that are not too fussy to make, that don't have outrageous fabric requirements and that suit my lifestyle. Some examples of patterns I like are Farbenmix, Ottobre, Wiksten, Grainline, Kwik Sew, Burda, Lekala, etc. I don't care if there are tons of instructions as long as the pattern pieces are well drafted

I follow you on Google Reader :)

I will go for clarity when purchasing a pattern.

I think I'd choose something soft for a scarf - maybe voile? Nothing too warm but enough to snuggle me round my neck and stop the wind from the North Sea blowing straight down my back!!
P.S. Gorgeous models!

Archie The Wonder Dog said...

I don't buy many patterns but when I do it's usually for something I think will be well-written and that I'll use many times. Or will inspire me to make variations of it many times...

Archie The Wonder Dog said...

And of course I follow you!

I am a new follower found you thru Charm About You :)

Amy's Crafty Shenanigans said...

I think I would use a red and white stripe I have along with some Kona coal and a grey with red piece I have as a wintery one and I have some Fresh Cut florals to do a spring/summery one in maybe :)

Amy's Crafty Shenanigans said...

A pattern - I consider the price and then how many variations it has with it so I feel more like I am getting added value for money. This is a terrific scarf :)

FarahLin said...

I'd go with voile too - love AMH prints !

Lovely scarves, I think it would be fun to mix fabrics up a bit, maybe a touch of velvet or velour for winter.

I hope I'm not too late, I would make the scarf from Field Study by Anna Maria Horner
Thanks!

Also when buying a pattern I consider of course the cost and I learn better from pictures so thats a plus.

I was wondering if this pattern is still available? nothing seems to be in your etsy shop at the moment.
